On 5 February 2014 Jewish settlers with bulldozers moved onto the 2nd piece of Abu Haikal land, the cherry orchard. They surveyed the land and dug up 10 cherry trees. Since then they have fenced in the whole of this piece of land and erected a huge tent on it. By doing this they have closed the public right of way which ran across this land provided access to Hani Abuhaikal’s house and other houses. For now they have provided a longer temporary footpath the long way around the edge of the land but this can be closed at any time by the new gates at either end. They have dug precarious dirt steps down a high steep slope to get down from this new path. With these new fences the Abu Haikal houses are now completely surrounded by Israeli settlers an soldiers. There is now only one access point to the houses, which could be closed at any time.
